Mummers and Survakar games
They are rites - magical ritual actions aimed at expelling evil forces, protecting the harvest, and also - fertility and prosperity in the home. These are folk masquerade games, still performed in many regions of our country. These games are supposed to have originated from the Thracian Dionysian festivals. Although they are now reduced to the elements of display and visual effect. By the middle of the 20th century, the villages were roamed by Kuker bands and the ritual was still in its authentic essence as a sacerdotal act.
Martening
is the ritual feasting with martenits on the first day of the month of March. The martenitsa is a pagan amulet that serves to protect. It is believed that it protects against "evil forces" and does not allow them to "embrace" the owner.
Survakari
"New year - new luck" - says the popular saying; therefore, the customs themselves aim to ensure happiness and well-being in the coming year. The preparation for the holiday starts from the old year - December 31. Among the feasts there must be pork, fortune pie, pita with a silver coin, garlic, walnuts, wheat, red wine, and somewhere a red rooster is slaughtered. Before she sits down at the table, she is incensed. The oldest, the owner, breaks the cake, naming the pieces: for the home, for the Virgin, separately for each of the family. Whoever lands the piece with the coin will be healthy and happy for the whole next year ...the rest in the "Survaki" link...
